The R.S.V.B.A. AGM took place in November 2013 and in the county report delivered by Terry Hopkins, he stated that the county championship team is getting just 27 names to pick from - 24 are required.
3 years ago the selection went over to a "team manager" system, is this to blame? Was the team manager proactive enough in stirring up interest in monmouthshire bowls ?
The team is predominantly made up of the two most successful sides in Monmouthshire, RTB and Beaufort, but is this too inwardly looking ?
It is also a highly competative setting with all the loud shouting and "high fiving" that comes with it. maybe this is not everyone's cup of tea but i am afraid this is the way things are.
Are other counties experiencing this lack of interest?
Or is it merely that there is too much bowls these days and people do not have the time or the money to enter and take part in everything ?
Thought provoking but the game is in decline for whatever reason.
