Has the time has come to make a 2:30pm start the standard start time for all games played on a Saturday?
It has become an issue where players are leaving directly following the games because they have Saturday evening commitments.
Clubs rely on the revenue gained from the post match refreshments and often put on expensive catering only to see a large portion thrown away. Then there is the bar and raffle revenue which is much needed by all clubs.
If teams have shift workers, and these are few and far between, then a 3pm start could be arranged by the fixture secretaries to accommodate.
Just a 30 minute difference in the start time would allow more time, post match, for players to get to their functions whilst sparing that extra 1/2 hr that clubs need and rely on.
